For me, photography began as a hobby—but it's become a form of creative expression that brings unexpected satisfaction. I'm certainly
happiest when taking pictures, and the happiness lives on when I get the images back from the lab and view the results on the light table.
Sharing these results with others brings its own joy.In the three years I've been shooting, I've been fond of nature shots and portraits
and have a special passion for photographing children. Besides photography, I also enjoy cooking and practicing Aikido and meditation,
which are integrated into my life.
Photography, in many ways, is a form of meditation for me. When I'm out there shooting, I feel one with nature. It brings me to the state
of a still and peaceful mind where I appreciate all creation. I've fallen in love with a few special places. I occasionally return to these
spots to photograph—to escape. I watch the shadows lengthen as the sun goes down and look at arrowhead lilies dancing in the wind. Whether
or not I take pictures, I always return home feeling rejuvenated.

"Fashion, flowers and portraits—they're all the same: light, form, color. And mystery. Mystery is very important. When I started
photographing flowers, I thought, 'My God, where have I been?'….. I'd never seen the mystery of a flower. We walk by wonders everyday
and don't see them. We only stop at what shouts the loudest." – Barbara Bordnick
